Immune-mediated hemolysis after administration of human intravenous immunoglobulin in a dog: a case report

A 10-year-old spayed female Maltese presented with purpura and hematemesis. Initial laboratory evaluation revealed immune-mediated thrombocytopenia, but evidence of hemolytic anemia was not identified. Three milligrams human intravenous immunoglobulin (hIVIG) administered for 3 hours following prednisolone mycophenolate mofetil. pale mucous membrane identified, the packed cell volume decreased by 3%. Blood film examination significant spherocytosis auto-agglutination. transfusions immunosuppression were continued 4 days, hIVIG discontinued. This report describes a case increased hemolysis after administration, possibly due to new-onset or enhanced immunogenicity.
